Stress is one of the main diseases of the 21st century, as experts warn. There are many obligations and concerns that we face on a daily basis, so it is logical that from time to time anxiety invades us. We feel that we lose control and do not know how to act to regain calm. Below we have selected a series of basic exercises to relieve stress in record time.

1. Breathing

This breathing exercise is very helpful in clearing your mind and relaxing. The first thing is to inhale slowly and deeply while we remove the gut. Next, we hold our breath for two or three seconds and exhale slowly with our eyes closed, while visualizing a scenario that is pleasing to us.

We can practice the exercise five to 10 times, until we feel better. It is very simple, and with the passage of time, we will be able to do it without realizing it.

2. Display

This is one of the most effective exercises of all to adopt a relaxed and passive state of mind. We have to close our eyes to avoid any type of visual stimulus and visualize them in a place that transmits peace: a beach at sunset, a forest in spring… It may be difficult at first, but with practice we will be able to visualize ourselves there and forget ourselves of everything that is around.

3. Repetition

We can also focus on a specific element, whether we are on the street, at home or at work. We choose a word and repeat it silently or out loud, over and over again. No matter the meaning or the content, the key is in the repetition.

4. Relaxation

When we are stressed our muscles tense, so what we must do is relieve the tension to say goodbye to stress. If we have the opportunity to do it, it is best to practice the exercise lying on a mat on the floor.

The point is to contract each muscle for 20 seconds and then slowly release it. This will give us a great sense of relief.

5. Feeding

And finally, we can resort to a series of foods to calm the nerves. The nuts are great due to its high magnesium content, the mineral known as stress. They are a natural relaxant.

The banana is rich in tryptophan, an amino acid that stimulates the production of melatonin and serotonin. Banana also provides us with potassium, magnesium and vitamin B6.
